MTA COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic rules still in place
As of March 1, 2022, the MTA released a statement relating to its rules surrounding mask requirements. The company has cited that passengers are still required to wear masks when using its subways, buses, and paratransit vehicles. The company did cite that those who fail to follow the rules will be fined $50, but those without a mask will be given a free mask provided by the company through its booths or can be bought from its PPE vending machines. While restrictions have been lifted in the New York area, masks are still required on public transport by the state.
COVIDIn response to volatile demand in the wake of the first COVID-19 surge, the company undertook a comprehensive cost reduction program, aimed at shoring up labor and supply costs.
